Is there a Maximum Age to Rent a Car?

My Response:
There is no maximum age limit for car rentals in the United States. Here are the maximum age to rent a car restrictions that I was able to find for countries other than Ireland:

For Enterprise, the representative that I spoke with referred me to their website, which states "The minimum age is 23 years old and we do not have a maximum age limit as long as the driver has a valid driving licence." Note: Enterprise only has locations in the US, Canada, Ireland, the UK and Germany.
For Thrifty, the representative referred me to their website which states: "Outside the U.S., Thrifty Car Rental operators impose a maximum rental age that varies by country. Thrifty Car Rental recommends that renters check with their travel agent or car rental company prior to traveling." I thought that's what I was doing! Sorry, I could not get any further information from Thrify.

Alamo - The maximum age to rent a car is 75
Avis - Charges a surcharge of GBP 5.50/day for drivers over the age of 72.
Budget - no maximum age restriction
Dollar - Charges a surcharge of EUR 17.00 per rental for drivers over 65.
Hertz - The maximum age for rentals in Cyprus is 75 years old.
National - The maximum age limit is 75
Greece
Alamo - There is a maximum age of 71 years.
Avis - no maximum age
Budget - There is a maximum age of 70
Dollar - There is no maximum age
Hertz - There is no maximum age
National - There is no maximum age
Israel
Alamo - There is no maximum rental age.
Avis - There is no maximum age to rent a car.
Budget - The maximum age restriction is 75
Dollar - Maximum rental age is 75 years.
Hertz - There is no maximum age.
National - There is no maximum age.
Italy
Alamo - The maximum age is 75.
Avis - There is no maximum age restriction.
Budget - There is no maximum age restriction.
Dollar - There is no maximum age restriction.

Alamo - There is no maximum age to rent a car.
Avis - There is no maximum age restriction.
Budget - Maximum renter age is 60.
Dollar - There is no maximum age restriction.

United Kingdom
Alamo - There is no upper age limit except at Pembroke, and Carmarthen where the age limit is 75 years. In Plymouth, Exeter, Newquay Taunton, Wigan, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich the upper age limit is 70 years.
Avis - There is no maximum age restriction.
Budget - Maximum driver age is 75 years. Senior Driver Surcharge for ages 70 to 75 applies = GBP 10 per day maximum of GBP 50.
Dollar - Maximum renter age is 75. Renters age 70-75 have a surcharge of 10.00 GBP per day.
Hertz - There is no maximum age.
National - stated that there were "Some locations that maintain maximum age limits". They said you would have to check with each individual city, but I would hazard a guess that they would be the same as Alamo, which were "Pembroke, and Carmarthen where the age limit is 75 years. Plymouth, Exeter, Newquay Taunton, , Wigan, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich the upper age limit is 70 years. "
